Reporting a Service Outage

Learn how to submit a report when you're experiencing issues with an online service.

Why Report an Outage?

User reports are a critical part of our outage detection system. When you report an issue:

  • You help us identify problems faster, especially for services without public status APIs
  • You provide valuable information about the geographical spread of an outage
  • You help other users confirm whether a problem is widespread or just affecting them
  • Your specific details about the problem can help identify exactly what features are impacted

Multiple user reports from different locations are one of the most reliable indicators of a service outage.

How to Submit a Report

Follow these steps to report a service outage:

  1. Find the service page by searching or browsing categories
  2. Click on the "Report an Issue" button on the service page
  3. Select the type of issue you're experiencing from the dropdown menu
  4. Provide details about the problem in the description field (optional but helpful)
  5. Enter your email address if you want to be notified when the issue is resolved (optional)
  6. Click "Submit Report" to finalize your submission
Pro Tip: Be specific about what features aren't working. For example, instead of saying "Netflix is down," specify "Can't log in to Netflix account" or "Netflix streaming is buffering constantly."

What Information to Include

To make your report as helpful as possible, consider including:

  • Specific errors you're seeing (error codes, messages, etc.)
  • When the problem started and if it's continuous or intermittent
  • Affected features (login, streaming, messaging, etc.)
  • Devices affected (mobile app, desktop website, smart TV app, etc.)
  • Troubleshooting steps you've already tried

The more details you provide, the better we can categorize and analyze the issue.

After Submitting a Report

Once you submit a report:

  • Your report is anonymously counted in our outage detection algorithm
  • The report count for that service is updated in real-time
  • If you provided an email, you'll be notified when the service status changes
  • The service status may be updated based on your report and others
We take privacy seriously. Your IP address is only used to prevent duplicate reports and is never shared with third parties. Email addresses are only used for status notifications if you opt in.

Common Questions About Reporting

Yes, email address is optional. You can submit a report without providing any personal information.

Our system uses a dynamic threshold that varies by service. For popular services, we require more reports to confirm an outage. For smaller services, fewer reports may trigger a status change. We also consider the geographic distribution and timing of reports.

If you can't find the service you want to report, please use our contact form to suggest adding it. We regularly add new services based on user requests.
